First Amendment Days 2023
Wayfinding & Outreach Design
First Amendment Days is an annual event at Iowa State University that brings together students, faculty, and community members to celebrate and reflect on the freedoms of speech, press, petition, assembly, and religion. The organization behind the event is diverse, ranging from its original founders to students experiencing it for the first time.
I designed a set of bold, accessible signs for each freedom, placed at corresponding exhibits that featured art or materials contributed by club members. To encourage engagement, I also developed a foldable “passport” system: attendees collected stamps by visiting each freedom’s station, turning the event into an interactive journey.
The signage and passport system improved navigation, boosted participation, and gave the event a more cohesive visual identity. My contributions helped create a more engaging and educational experience, reinforcing the importance of the First Amendment through design.
